2000 Annual Reunion
Our annual meeting this year was held at the Queens in Belbroughton, Worcestershire on Saturday May 20th 2000. 30 members and friends gathered at 10 o’clock and enjoyed looking through scrapbooks and records of past and present Wagstaff’s. Mrs. Barbara Kent then made a few announcements regarding the Society including a request for more articles for the newsletter.
Then when all the scrapbooks and records were packed away members sat down to an excellent lunch. But unbeknown to the member of the Society a Mr. Wagstaff from Coventry was visiting the Queens. The staff at the Queens presumed that he was with the Society. But he told them that he had never heard of the Society so he was quickly introduced to Mrs. Barbara Kent who gave him all the information about the Society.
At about 2 o’clock the group gathered for a walk around the village. They were escorted by Mrs. Madge Jones, a local historian who discussed the ancient church in detail, and then pointed out other items of interest in the vicinity with comments about the work of the Belbroughton History Society. The predicted rain did not arrive, so it was a leisurely and very informative walk. Grateful thanks should be given to Eve Ridgeway member 168 for all the help with setting up the meeting especially the publicity.
It was pleasing to see Helen Sofchalk (member 230) who was on a trip from the U.S.A. with her relative Dianne Tuttle, who has also become a member.
